The Tuscan style of architecture with it’s origins, in the Tuscan region of Italy, are unique and well appreciated. The development of the California Tuscan Style has come to represent the blending of this authentic “Old World” architecture with the conveniences of modern world construction.
One feature that distinguishes the Tuscan Style is the tile roof itself. It is not just the materials. The color,texture and choice of “S” or “pan & cover” roof tiles play a large roll in capturing the California Tuscan style. New tile roof installations highlight the value of today’s artisans and their techniques.
Here are a number of examples showing how techniques effect our sense of the Tuscan’s historic style. You will notice the mixing of several tile colors throughout the roofscape. This technique is very much a part of creating the “Old World” effect.
